MEDICAL
Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary, AB
The assignment was to develop a 6,500 m2 (70,000 sq ft) building expansion on three levels to the existing Tom Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) on The Foothills Hospital Campus. Following this new addition, a phased renovation of 6,500 m2 (70,000 sq ft) was completed to the original three levels at the TBCC and adjoining floors within the Special Services Building.
Strict attention to infection prevention and containment protocols was required within the renovated spaces which remained occupied and functional during reconstruction. The Client’s project budget and the design / construction / renovation schedule of 42 months were met.
The project was under a joint steering committee of The Alberta Cancer Board, the Calgary Health Region, and Alberta Infrastructure. As the Project Managers, we answered to all parties with final direction from The Alberta Cancer Board. Our quality, cost and time control techniques delivered the project to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
